Amidst the one-thousandth time answering, “Ammi (mom), what is this called?”, going through the motions of everyday chores, trying to find exactly two minutes and twenty-nine seconds of uninterrupted downtime, finding that last bit of draining energy to stay calm, there are fleeting moments with a sudden realization that there is meaning to this madness. It is almost as if that time slows down, birds stop chirping, the dryer stops making that tumbling sound and one can see a flash of His Divine Plan unveiled from behind the chaos that often surrounds oneself like scattered dust. Marium’s Musings is an attempt to capture and preserve some of those often random and unexpected flashes of hope and meaning not only for myself and my daughter, but also for anyone who might find some unexpected joy and pause for meaning during their two minutes and twenty-nine seconds of uninterrupted downtime.

Marium lives in London with her husband and two daughters. Alongside trying to run a house and raise a toddler, she is trained in Chemistry and the traditional Islamic sciences, and is now an aspiring writer. She is also an optimist who believes that one day this will all make sense.
