Undivided Attention – Ar-Raqeeb

I watch my daughter during her swimming lesson while sitting in the viewer’s lounge. But I don’t have my gaze fixated on her. Sometimes I use that time to reply to messages, or do some pending work, and mostly I am busy with my toddler during that time.
But today, coincidentally, my daughter looked back at me from the pool while I was intently watching her for a few moments. The excitement on her face was unmatched. She almost started jumping in the pool, waving at me. She was so happy to have my full attention – to be seen without any other distractions.
This is human nature. We all want to be seen. We want undivided attention from our loved ones. A watchful gaze from someone we truly value is priceless.
When I saw my daughter getting excited when she saw me looking at her, I felt extreme happiness about the fact that my Rabb is always looking at me with that watchful Gaze. He is Al-Baseer (The All-Seeing) and Ar-Raqeeb (The Watchful). His Gaze does not waver. Tiredness or sleep never affects His attention towards me. There are no distractions or breaks. There is perpetual watchfulness by Al-Wadud (The Source of Love) and Al-Hafeez (The Ever-Preserving). It is only me who turns away from Him and refuses to witness Him. But the moment I want to return, He welcomes me with forgiveness and mercy. What a beautiful Rabb, Alhumdulillah.
