This World Hurts
My dear daughter,
This world hurts. Sometimes I worry how you would navigate through this life with all the injustice and pain that people inflict on others, and with all the lies they carry in their hearts and on their tongues.
But then I pause and hold myself accountable for all the messages I am giving you. Do you see your mother with the strength that is beloved to Allah, but also the softness and gentleness that is embodied in the prophetic example? Do you see her not being taken undue advantage of, but also at the service of others? Do you see your mother complaining to Allah about her unfulfilled rights, while also stopping her tongue from saying anything displeasing to Him? Do you see wisdom in her actions in terms of forgiveness, but also standing up for her due right?
I do not know the answer to these questions. The truth is that I am still learning. But at least I have a response to my worries. I need to see inward and monitor my actions more than looking out to the world.
