Description
Changes are SO hard… especially when you have to move! And ESPECIALLY when you have to move to another country!!
In Khadijah’s Big Move, you will meet a brave 5-year-old girl on a journey to a new home, far, far away. No bed, no story time, and no home-cooked meals. Will things ever be the same again?
After a few bumps and frowns along the way, Khadijah learns to be a little more grateful and a whole lot wiser.
Khadijah’s Big Move teaches young children about patience and having the right intentions through Khadijah’s heartfelt conversations with her grandmother. It provides a unique Islamic perspective for children during both everyday challenges and tough transitional moments.

This is a lovely book which teaches children about patience in the process of moving home. It is a simple and easy to read book where children will be able to follow the beautiful illustrations and remember to be grateful for the things they have. Alhamdulillah.

Marium’s writings have been one of my favourites! When I found out about her book, I just couldn’t wait to read it.
What a wonderful and cute book MashaAllah. Simple wordings, great illustrations. You can really feel Khadijah’s feelings that came with her move in the book. A great book for children who are experiencing any kind of shift in their life. It validates their emotions giving hope at the same time that things will settle down InshaAllah. Just wait and be patient.

I read this book to my three boys at bedtime and they really enjoyed it. We have read it 4 times in the past week and really enjoyed it!
I love that this book opens up different discussion points with the kids, such as patience, dua, travelling and being thankful.
We have started incorporating gratitude in our bedtime routine Alhamdulillah.

MashaAllah my son has really been enjoying reading Khadija’s big move. Although he’s not had the exact same experience as Khadija’s international move, the idea of change and being patient when you can not have things exactly as you wish seems to resonate with him. I’ve found that there are many themes in the book that we have been able to to reflect on together such as patience, trusting Allah’s plan for us and gratitude which we have been able to explore through Khadija’s experience. May Allah reward the author for her efforts.
Umm Baraka –
My daughter was excited to read the book as it bought back memories for her when we moved cities, she kept thinking the character Khadijah was her and could really relate to Khadijah.
It opened up conversations between us and is an engaging story.
It’s a lovely way to introduce the concept of intention, patience, Dua, and emotions. Despite no eyes in the book (which I really like) she was able to see the emotions on the faces which I thought was quite nice and goes to show the effort behind the illustrations

There is a huge need for good books for young Muslims, and Allahumma Barik, this is such a wonderful book to bridge that gap. Finally!
It tackles a relatable and common struggle that our little ones have to face, and teaches us how our deen guides us to overcome our struggles. Marium, in a stunning way, teaches the reader gratitude, family values and even du’a. subhanAllah, a beautiful read.
My youngest began shouting, “Read it again, read it again!!” when I reading the book to her. We eagerly anticipate more books written by Marium!

There is something in this book that has the power to hold the attention of the reader and the children. I think the author has taken the reader right into the world of the child and her point of view so kids find it very relatable. My kids and I started doing gratitudes out loud together after reading this book.
The illustrations are brilliant; picture perfect and exactly right, with expressions being conveyed even without facial features. As I read the book, I got a feel of the classic ‘The Tiger Comes to Tea’ and it wouldn’t surprise me if this becomes a Muslim kids’ classic.

Assalam alaikum.
I came across this book, ‘Khadija’s Big Move’ at a local and well reputed Islamic Educational Institute, when searching for books suitable for young children slowly becoming familiar with English.
I have to say, I highly recommend this.
Firstly, it’s an easy to read story. Short. Full of very artfully drawn colorful pictures.
Second, it’s very relatable. No fairy tales and elves. Many children are familiar with parents’ moving and having to relocate elsewhere, make new friends.
I highly commend the english usage. It’s suitable for younger children, both familiar and basic with the language.
And of course, the Islamic checks – in the pictures, the wordings. The good thing is, even if a parent wasn’t that Islamic inclined, this story would still make perfect sense.
I wish more and more parents and schools knew and read these books. The author deserves a lot of credit.
