Letter to a Mother
To the exhausted and overwhelmed mother
I know that you cry secretly. You have cried while driving the car while your child screams in the car seat. You have cried when you were at the last ounce of your energy and sanity, but your child wouldn’t sleep. You have cried in the shower. You have cried before going to sleep. You have also cried when you finally got few moments to your own self, but you realized you had lost your own identity being “just” a mom for too long, so it was difficult to transition to doing something on your own.
Sometimes tears roll down your eyes uncontrollably and you are unable to figure out the exact reason. You feel really lonely, although millions of other mums are going through the exact same thing. And when you cry, you wonder why you are so weak.
But here’s the truth. You are the strongest person in your household. You are the epitome of strength, resilience and mercy. Allah SWT Chose your heart to Put in so much love and mercy in it for a little human being, which is incomparable to any other relationship. Yes you have transformed to a different person. But you have been transformed by love and mercy. What better transformation could there be?
Be certain, that Allah SWT would Reward you for every single tear that flowed down your cheeks, every second of sleep that you gave up, every morsel of uneaten food that remained in your plate because you were attending to your child, every sip of cold tea, and every single worry that crossed your mind regarding your children.
He SWT would Reward you in the dunya and akhirah both. There would be moments when He would Put solace in your heart like He did for the mother of Musa AS when she felt that her heart would burst.
Allah SWT Knows that you are doing your best to raise His slaves, and it would be all worth it when you and your children would finally meet Him as “imam ul muttaqeen” InshaAllah. Nothing else would matter on that Day.
ربنا ھب لنا من ازواجنا و ذریاتنا قرہ اعین و اجعلنا للمتقین اماما
