Ease with Difficulty

We want the hard times to end. We want to be set in routine, have a clean house, a cooperative child and lots of happy enjoyable moments with friends and family.

While we are wishing for all these things, we forget to stop and realize the immense good that Allah SWT has Placed in the present moment. Jetlag means there is less pressure and expectation to be organized regarding cooking and cleaning. A messy house and a pile of laundry means less brain space to think about past traumatic incidents. A child having separation anxiety regarding her father means more me-time for the mother.

Allah SWT says: “inna ma’al usri yusra” [indeed with the difficulty, there is ease]. Thinking about the “yusr” [ease] in every situation makes life a little less difficult. Of course, there is ease after every difficulty as well, but even during the difficult situation, there’s always an aspect to it that it filled with ease. Waiting for perfection is a pointless pursuit because only Jannah can be perfect.
